RefereesCenter Referee InstructionsCenter Referees, please make eye contact with your A.R.'s when the ball is played through for the off-side flag. If you agree, then call it. It not, waive it off. This applies to all divisions. Be loud with your whistles. Protect the keepers. Error on the side of caution. categories: Referees
Assistant Referee InstructionsAssistant Referees, stay in line with the next to the last defender or the ball whichever is closer to the goal to call the off-side. Remember, the player must participate in the play by either interfering, playing the ball or forcing an opponent to run to play the ball before the call is made. A.R.s must flag fouls not seen by the referee. Expecially on a full size field. Help out the centers. If you see it raise the flag and waive it. categories: Referees

JewelryRemember to check for jewelry prior to the game. No ear rings, rings, necklaces, watches, or bracelets are allowed. Medic alert bracelets are allowed but must be taped down. Sunglasses are allowed if they are perscription only. The taping of ear rings is not allowed. If they can't remove them they don't play. There will be no exceptions. categories: Referees
Division 5 OffsidesThere is off-sides in division 5 upper and lower. Please call it and protect the keeper, especially in division 5. If it looks like they have possession or are right about to grab the ball with their hands and an attacker is about to kick it, blow your whistle. Be safe rather than sorry. categories: Referees
Slide TacklesSlide tackles should not be allowed in division 5 lower and 6. All players at that age should stay on their feet. In division 5 upper it is allowed provided they are only one legged tackles and are safe. That means they are using one foot and are sweeping the ball to the side. No cleats showing at a player during the tackle. If contact is made with the player first on more than one occassion then it should not be allowed by that player in division 5. Cards are issued in division 4 and up if they are tackling improperly. Please keep a close watch on the tackles. categories: Referees
Hand-BallA hand-ball must be deliberate. Just because the ball bounces into a hand or arm does not mean it's a hand-ball. If a player is protecting themselves and the ball hits their hand, the intent is to protect and not to play the ball with their hands, then do not call a hand-ball. If they move their hands to knock the ball down, then it is a hand-ball. Don't let coaches or players influence your call. Look at where the player's hands are when they strike the ball, are they in a normal running position or are they raised. If they are in a normal position, then no hand-ball. If they are raised, then possible hand-ball, depending on if they hit the ball or if the ball hits them. categories: Referees
Division 6 RestartsIf you are reffing division 6 you need to make sure you are making the players play the game correctly on re-starts. If they make an improper throw in correct it but let them re-take it. Goal kicks and corner kicks should be taken correctly. You are not only referees, but coaches. If they don't do it right, please correct it. Don't let things slide just because it's division 6. categories: Referees
